Paul Borawski wrote in his last post about that, nowadays, there are more and more fields “far” from quality’s manufacturing roots, that are increasingly investing in and implementing quality principles. And the following question arises:

“What new fields or disciplines could most reap the benefits of quality tools and techniques?”

Before answering the question, I would like to share with you one of my “phrases” I use constantly when I think about quality, something that I always say to people, no matter what they are doing or where they work:

“There is no field, no job or activity, no time during the day that you can’t apply at least one quality tool / concept / principle. If you use quality, you will get better results in a more efficient way”

Saying that and answering the previous question, I’m sure that any new field is able to implement quality principles in order to reap the most benefits of it. If I have to give an example of any new field, I always like to talk about our personal life. People are getting more used to use quality tools in their daily habits, since they have realized the huge benefits they can get from it: from organizing closets, houses or garages, to the way their shop for groceries. In my March 2013 post, I talked about how different quality tools help me as a Quality Engineer, Mom and Yoga Teacher to have my life full of quality.

As Aristotle said: “Quality is not an act, it is a habit.

What about you? Do you know any field where the implementation of quality is giving it better outcomes?
